Imbibed with love for life
and delight for nature,
this sacred land enthralls me.
The wisdom, adventure and
romance contained in her
are a part of the life, thought
and behaviour of
every Indian even today.
Here, every feeling finds expression.
I have lost my heart, mind & soul to India.
There is something about India that seems irresistible.
Alexander and his prodid army clattered its plains.
Huien Tsang, the mystic walked across from China.
Genghis Khan thundered down with his Mongol Hordes.
Then came the Mughuls from the North West.
Finally the British, French and the Dutch.
Every one came for different reason.
Some for riches.
To others, India was the destination of the soul.
Whatever the reason,
India never failed to enthrall its visitors.
Centuries later, nothing changed.
We have everything to offer the world.
Read Lord Macaulay’s report of 1835 for the British Parliament.

“I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage and therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation”.

It is a pity that we fell prey then.
Well, all is for good.
We still have the energy.
Let us arise and reenergize ourselves.
And See the grass grow,
Hear the cuckoo sing,
Touch the morning dew,
And be free
To build our own homes,
To travel on foot,
Enjoy nature,
Choose our own way of life,
And live in peace.
And make the whole world come here.
Again and again.
This country’s resources,
Nature, culture and heritage
If rightly nurtured and harvested
Can provide far beyond its need.
Now is the hour.
Arise.

QUOTE 1 / 2002 FEB

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped.

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripple build a current which can weep down the mightiest walls of oppression and injustice.
